COLISA : COLlection of Ichtyological SAmples :

Salle 1

The collection of ichthyological samples (Colisa) is the result of combining historical and recent samples, that were collected by several units of the sites of the Research Observatory on Diadromous Fish in Coastal Rivers (ORE DiaPFC), in partnership with the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB) as part of the "R&D cluster on Anadromous Migrants" in their Environment (Pôle MIAME) ; and Alpine Lake Observatory (SOERE OLA).

The value of this collection lies in the nature of the samples (more than 40 species of fish and lampreys), as well as its size geographic range (mainland France) adn historical perspective (since 1970s).
From a scientific viewpoint, the collection contributes to current and retrospective description of individuals or populations of fish, based on life history traits, changes in the genetic diversity of the populations and changes in the environmental conditions in which they evolve.

The collection also helps define conservation and management activities for exploited populations (defining quotas, opening periods for fishing, etc.), some of which are protected (IUCN Red List) or considered heritage species.
