COLlection of Ichtyological SAmple : Colisa

 

Labelled a Biological Resource Centre (BRC) by the GIS IBISA in December 2017 and ISO 9001:2015 certified since July 2020, the collection of ichthyological samples (Colisa) is the result of combining historical and recent samples from many aquatic specimens, collected by INRAE's U3E Experimental Unit and DECOD Joint Research Unit in Rennes, ECOBIOP Joint Research Unit in Saint Pée sur Nivelle and CARRTEL Joint Research Unit in Thonon-les-Bains (SOERE OLA) as well as the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB).

 

 

RARE

Colisa is part of the BRC4Env, a network of BRC for the Environment, which aims to store and supply environmental resources (biological material and associated data) securely and with optimal traceability.

The BRC4Env is one of the pillars of the French national infrastructure "Agronomic Resources for Research" (AgroBRC-RARe), which brings together five BRC networks.

 

The collection is defined by its historical scope (more than 46 years), the nature and quantity of the samples and their geographic origin (mainland France).

More than 470,000 samples and 50 taxa

The most common species are salmon, trout, whitefish (Coregonus), perch, char and lampreys.

The collection contains several types of samples, including hard structures : scales, otoliths, opercula and fin samples.
Over 200 sites (rivers + lakes).
